Kevin and Phil have spent a bit of time cursing computers and sorting out an analyser that will give doctors real time oxygen consumption for a patient. The unit looks at the gas going into and coming out of the lungs, and analyses CO2, Oand H20. The data from the analyser is analysed by a computer program written in Labview which then gives real time levels of  CO2, O2, H20 in the breath as well as the rate of flow of gas. The final product will be able to give warning to the doctors/nurses on the ward that the patient is consuming oxygen at a different rate from that expected and might need attention.

Later stages of the project will involve several more gasses (CO, methane and acetylene) being monitored.
